We recently secured planning permission for two new solar farms, further cementing our position as one of the UK’s most active renewable energy developers.
Our 49.9MW solar farm in East Staffordshire was approved on 25th March, followed by a unanimous committee approval this week for our 30MW solar farm in Mid Suffolk. The Mid Suffolk scheme, which received 51 letters of support, was praised by councillors for its thoughtful and well-considered design, extensive community engagement, and the way it supports local farming businesses.
These two new consents bring our total ready-to-build (RTB) solar pipeline in the UK to 586 MWp.
We are currently building two solar farms, following a strategic change in direction from a pure-play developer to a business now actively delivering projects through to operation. Kemble and Burtree Lane secured a combined project financing debt facility of over £60 million in October last year and February this year respectively.
Aura Power’s CEO, Simon Coulson, commented:
“These latest planning successes are a testament to our multi-disciplinary team, who consistently deliver high quality projects that maximise environmental benefits while aligning with national and local priorities. We have a monumental challenge ahead as a nation to meet our decarbonisation targets, and with the UK Government’s clear direction through the Clean Power 2030 plan, we are proud to be delivering projects that are strategically positioned to help meet that goal.”
Aura Power continues to demonstrate its leadership in the sector, having already secured CfDs for seven projects across the AR5 and AR6 allocation rounds; The company is committed to enabling a clean energy future through well-designed, low-impact solar developments that deliver meaningful local and national benefits.
