Aura Power were honoured to receive the 'Business Development' Award for the second year in a row at the 2024 UK-Portugal Business Awards hosted by the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) in collaboration with the British Embassy in Portugal.
The awards marked the 14th event hosted by the DBT in Lisbon and recognises the entrepreneurial effort of Portuguese companies that have chosen the United Kingdom as an investment destination, as well as British companies that have achieved success in Portugal the past year.

HM Ambassador Lisa Bandari hosted the event at her Official Residence, joined by HM Trade Commissioner Chris Barton CMG. Chris Barton highlighted: “It is a privilege and a pleasure to encourage thriving trade and investment between the UK and Portugal and reward businesses such as those we are celebrating today, which drive economic growth and give people jobs, providing security and interesting careers.”
The award highlighted Aura Power's continued growth and commitment to business development in Portugal, particularly with regard to solar and battery storage.
Aura Power has been developing renewable energy projects in Portugal since 2018 and is currently nearing completion of its first solar project under construction in Leiria, which hosted the British Ambassador Ms Bandari's predecessor, Chris Sainty on a site visit last year.
Jorge Fernandez, Country Manager of Aura Power Portugal, said: "We are honoured to receive this award which comes at perfect timing as we near the energisation of our 27MW solar park in Casal de Cortica. We are extremely grateful to the British Embassy for their continued support and look forward to may more investments into the Portuguese market as we bring our projects through our pipeline."
Aura is working to develop an active pipeline of 0.7 GW of solar projects and 2.5 GW of battery energy storage, which will support Portugal in achieving its commendable carbon reduction and renewable energy targets.
